Come discover the history of the music genre that became the soundtrack of a movement. 6th & Jazz is a 55 min show that takes you on a journey to explore the roots of jazz and the people that brought it to life. The show features compositions by jazz artists such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dizzy Gillespie. Don’t miss out on a performance that’s filled with be bopping tunes, improvisation, audience interaction and dancing feet, come join us and experience all things jazz!

6th & Jazz is open to all Orange & Osceloa County Public School 6th Graders. Space available to additional schools.

Join Orlando’s Poet Laureate, Shawn Welcome, emerging local school talents and nationally renowned spoken word artists for a rarely seen and heard 90-minute showcase that will solidify anyone’s definition of spoken word poetry.

VOICES OF FREEDOM: AN EVENING OF SPOKEN WORD

Voices of Freedom: An Evening of Spoken Word features premier spoken word poets from around the country gathered together for a special night celebrating Black History Month. From the cultural expression of Langston Hughes to the Beat Poets of the 1950s to modern rap and hip-hop music, performance poetry follows the trend of rhythmic engagement with listeners. As the name suggests, performance poems are meant to be spoken aloud with expression and movement that reflect their meaning. Join Orlando’s Poet Laureate, Shawn Welcome, emerging local school talents and nationally renowned spoken word artists for a rarely seen and heard 90-minute showcase that will solidify anyone’s definition of spoken word poetry.
