Dr. Phillips Center Announces Over 400 Student Winners for 12th Annual Applause Awards
Orlando, FL—Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announces the 12th Annual Applause Awards winners. Out of nearly 4,000 individuals who participated in this year’s program, a panel of 20 statewide casting agents, show producers and industry professionals have selected winners consisting of over 400 students from 70 productions and 46 high schools, spanning across 11 counties to participate in the 12th Annual Applause Awards inside Walt Disney Theater on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Reminiscent of the Tony Awards, this annual event celebrates top talent in regional high schools including teachers and students. During the event on May 30, students will perform in various categories and be recognized for excellence in singing, acting, dancing and supporting and lead performer roles.
"Every year, we look forward to celebrating the region’s top talent at the Applause Awards,” said Ryan Simpson, education director at Dr. Phillips Center. “Through the process, we see students share their dreams and embrace their passion—and that energy fills Walt Disney Theater. It’s a night they’ll remember for years to come."
Eight shows will be honored for Outstanding Musical and two lead performers will be selected as the Jimmy Award nominees to represent the region in New York City. Additionally, the Applause Awards offers all participating college-bound students a chance to earn a scholarship. To date, the arts center has awarded more than $239,500 in scholarships through the Applause Awards program.
The 12th Annual Applause Awards will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, and will be hosted by Dr. Phillips High School grad and Broadway star, Michael James Scott inside Walt Disney Theater.
