Shen Yun
Age Restriction 4+Shen Yun
Imagine a more compassionate world. That was China before communism. Shen Yun carries you into the grandeur of China at its zenith, bringing to life beauty, goodness and wisdom through a breathtaking performance. Ancient China was known as “The Land of the Divine,” a place where deities and mortals together walked the Earth. Music, medicine, calligraphy, clothing, language and much more were believed to have been gifts from above. With elegance from the heavens, and profound wisdom from dynasties past, China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture unfold in timeless stories that celebrate valor, courage, loyalty and kindness. In our troubled world today, it is a message of hope.
Through a collection of short pieces, the audience travels from legends of the culture’s creation to stories of compassion and courage in China today; from the Yellow Emperor of antiquity to the splendor of the Tang Dynasty; from snowy mountaintops to vast, boundless grasslands; and from celestial palaces in the highest heavens down to the dusty plateaus of the Middle Kingdom. These profound stories are told through classical Chinese dance—an art form which was passed down among the people and refined over millennia in imperial courts and through ancient plays. Its unmatched expressivity, athleticism and grace bring to life every character on stage. Picturesque animated backdrops, projected behind the dancers, extend the stage and transport the audience to another world. These grand images are dynamic and involve unique interaction with the dancers—a patented innovation that catches even seasoned theatergoers by surprise. The live Shen Yun Orchestra accompanies every dance performance, masterfully blending ancient Chinese instruments with a Western symphony orchestra, creating an enchanting new sound.
Based in New York, Shen Yun enjoys true artistic freedom to revive this rich and vibrant culture. Around the world, through dance, music, costumes and this rich history, Shen Yun is sparking a renaissance of true traditional culture. Experience the timeless beauty of heaven-inspired tradition at its best.
